Our values
Our Commitment to a Safe and Respectful Environment
We are committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone. This includes a zero-tolerance approach to sexual harassment of any kind. We believe that all individuals deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, and we are dedicated to creating a workplace and online community free from harassment, intimidation, and discrimination.
We strive to create a culture where everyone feels comfortable and supported, and where disclosures of inappropriate behavior are met with an open, non-judgmental, and supportive approach. We encourage open communication and provide clear reporting mechanisms for anyone who experiences or witnesses sexual harassment or other forms of misconduct. We take all reports seriously and are committed to conducting thorough and impartial investigations.
We expect all visitors, employees, volunteers, and anyone interacting with our people to uphold these standards. Any behavior that violates this commitment will be taken seriously and appropriate action will be taken. We believe that a safe and respectful environment is essential for the well-being and success of our community. We are dedicated to maintaining this environment and continuously improving our policies and procedures to ensure they are effective in preventing and addressing any form of harassment or misconduct.
Blackpool Sixth Form's Equal Opportunities Policy
We are an equal opportunities employer and we are determined to ensure that no applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of a protected characteristic, or is disadvantaged by any conditions or any related individual requirements. We welcome applications from all sections of the community and all diverse groups. The college provides equality of access, services and care to everyone, regardless of people’s age, disability, sex, gender identity, gender expression or trans status, race, religion or belief or sexual orientation.
The college is fully compliant with the Equality Act 2010 (Specific Duties) Regulations 2011.
Safeguarding
All staff will be carefully selected using recruitment and selection procedures designed to emphasise the college’s commitment to safeguarding. All posts, including volunteers, are subject to enhanced DBS clearance. All shortlisted applicants will be asked to complete a self-declaration of any criminal record or information that will make them unsuitable to work with children. Any offer of employment may be withdrawn should any information come to light that has not been included in the self-declaration. It is an offence to apply for a role if you are barred from regulated activity relevant to children, anyone caught doing so will be reported to the police immediately. For all appointed teaching staff we will verify any professional qualifications, teacher induction/probation information and if a prohibition order has been issued by the secretary of state.
We will also complete a search of the teacher regulation agency Teacher Services’ system to check for the award of qualified teacher status (QTS), the completion of teacher induction or probation and to ensure no sanctions or prohibition orders are in place.
