Recruitment during the Covid-19 closure
We are without a doubt in unprecedented times, but we remain committed to a thorough and fair recruitment process with safeguarding at the heart of everything we do. To ensure that our students continue to receive the best levels of teaching and learning we will continue with our recruitment process and manage this remotely. You can see more details of what that involves below.
The recruitment process will involve tasks and interviews across two days, these will be managed and held via Google Hangouts/Meet. Shortlisted candidates will be provided with a lesson topic, they will be asked to produce a full lesson plan and any presentation and handouts that go with it. These plans will need to be returned by 9am the day before the first interview day.
On the first day you will be invited to a video conference to meet members of the relevant department and senior members of the college. Candidates will then be asked to complete a written task, this will be emailed to the candidate on the day and a time limit will be set. They will also take part in a discussion based on their lesson plan, their thoughts on teaching and learning and responses to classroom-based scenarios.
Your performance in the tasks will be evaluated and those successful in the tasks will be invited to a video interview the following day with the Head of Department and a member of the senior leadership team.
References will continue to be sought for all applicants and our robust safeguarding processes (including DBS checks) will continue to be in place, and as always any offer of employment will be conditional on all pre-employment checks being carried out satisfactorily.
Should the lockdown be lifted and the college reopens before the interview dates, we reserve the right to change the process and all shortlisted candidates will be informed of the new process.
