HR Assistant

Blackpool Sixth is an outstanding college specialising in 16-19 education, we have an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Assistant to join our team. This fantastic role is part of the college-wide Human Resources (HR) team and is well suited to you if you can provide comprehensive HR administration and support across all aspects of HR. 

In the role you will support the Head of HR and HR Officer with the day-to-day operation of the HR function; improving, streamlining and delivering a high-quality HR service. You will carry out relevant administrative duties in the recruitment process, including the planning and preparation of assessment days. You will also be responsible for general administrative tasks such as answering the telephone, managing the HR and recruitment inboxes, sending out general correspondence, managing HR diaries and booking of HR-related meetings and minuting meetings as required. With the ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative, you will cope well under pressure and will be able to work quickly and accurately to meet deadlines and exceed customer expectations. This full-time, permanent, post is 36.25 hours per week over 5 days, however, a college term time only working pattern would also be considered.   

A day in HR could see you: 

  • working with the HR Officer to plan and prepare a recruitment assessment day; 
  • monitoring absence records and other employee relation related documentation, maintaining accurate records and issuing relevant paperwork to line managers;
  • carrying out general administrative tasks for the HR department, answering the
  • telephone, managing HR emails and booking of HR-related meetings;
  • implementing and suggesting change to develop and better our systems to further improve our customer service;  
  • planning an induction process for a new starter.
